🙏 Jesus Wept: A Glimpse of Divine Compassion

Introduction

The shortest verse in Scripture, “Jesus wept” (John 11:35), carries profound meaning. At Lazarus’ tomb, Christ did not hide His emotions. He entered into human sorrow, showing that our pain touches His heart.

Jesus’ tears remind us that grief is not weakness but love expressed. He was fully divine, yet fully human, and His compassion assures us that He understands our struggles.

Though He wept, Jesus also declared, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). His tears point us to the blessed hope that death is temporary, and eternal life awaits those who believe.

3. Comfort in Our Grief

In our own seasons of mourning, we can rest in the Savior’s empathy. His promise in Revelation 21:4 — that He will wipe away every tear — assures us of restoration and joy.
